Bogdan Kipko is one of those people who lights up a room the moment he walks in. He's a business owner, he pastors a church, he's a husband and father, and he runs at about 110% at all times. When he came into Well Connected, he wasn't in crisis. He wasn't desperate. He came in because he's the kind of person who, once he understands something makes sense, goes all in.
I love that about him. And his story is a great one for anyone who thinks chiropractic care is only for people who are already in pain.
"If I'm Not Sick, I Don't Need a Doctor"
Bogdan grew up in a household shaped by his dad's very Soviet approach to health: if nothing is visibly wrong, you don't need medical attention. It's a mindset a lot of people carry, honestly, and it's not unique to any one culture. We're all a little guilty of it.
But Bogdan is also a pastor who regularly tells his congregation that the best time to get marriage counseling is not when your marriage is falling apart. It's when things are going well, because that's when you have the capacity to actually do the work and build something stronger.
So when I said to him, "Look, if you're feeling great, that's awesome. But imagine how much better you could feel," something clicked.
He recognized his own advice coming back at him. And he took it.
Three to Four Headaches a Week
Here's what Bogdan hadn't fully registered as a problem: he was waking up in the middle of the night with pounding headaches three to four times a week. He'd take Advil or Tylenol, get back to sleep, and do it all again a few days later. It had just become background noise in his life.
That's the thing about chronic symptoms. When they've been present long enough, they stop feeling like symptoms. They just feel like life.
After his Blair correction, Bogdan told me he couldn't remember the last time a headache had woken him up at night. Not once. And he said something in a follow-up appointment that I've thought about many times since: "I had no idea how well I could feel, because I didn't know I wasn't feeling well."
That sentence is everything. It's why I push for preventive care. It's why I ask patients to imagine a better baseline rather than just accept the one they have. Because most people have been living below their potential for so long they've forgotten what good actually feels like.
Sleeping Better. Thinking Clearer. Less Anxious.
Beyond the headaches, Bogdan noticed changes across the board. Better sleep. Better focus. Less anxiety. Less stress. More capacity to handle the demands of running a business, leading a church, and being present for his family.
None of that surprised me. When the upper cervical spine is aligned and the brain and body are communicating the way they were designed to, the effects ripple outward into every area of life. You don't just feel better in your neck. You function better as a whole person.
Bogdan put it in terms that make complete sense coming from a pastor and entrepreneur: "As you grow in your business and in whatever professional field you're in, you need to optimize yourself." He's enlisted his nurse sister to help him with the right supplements. He's got a chiropractor helping him with his structural health. He's building a team around his well-being the same way he builds teams in every other area of his life.
That is exactly the right approach.
The Body Is a Temple
When I asked Bogdan what it means to him to live his life in alignment, he didn't hesitate.
"I'm a person of faith. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. And I believe to live my life in alignment means to live according to God's precepts and principles. Part of that means understanding that your body is a temple."
He said he's not seeking balance, exactly. He's seeking rhythm. A sustainable, intentional rhythm that includes his marriage, his business, his church, his spiritual life, and yes, his Blair correction as part of that regular cadence.
"If the reason you don't have regular rhythm in your life is because you haven't had this done, you're not functioning the way you should be functioning."
I about fell out of my chair. Because that is exactly the vision God gave me when he gave me this gift to share. We ended up having a little church right there in the middle of the podcast and I am not even a little bit sorry about it.
For the Person Who Thinks They're Fine
Bogdan's story is specifically for the person who doesn't think they need this.
Maybe you're not in severe pain. Maybe you're functioning. Maybe, like Bogdan, you grew up believing that if nothing is visibly broken, you don't need to fix anything.
But here's what I want you to consider: functioning is not the same as thriving. Getting through the week is not the same as actually living it. And waking up with a headache three times a week is not just "how it is."
Bogdan came in healthy and left feeling incredible. He didn't know there was a gap until the gap was gone.
That's the invitation I want to extend to you today. Not to fix a crisis, but to find out what's possible.
