Master Your Mindset With Dr. Barbara Eaton
A Candid Conversation With An Expert In Mind Thought Consciousness
I have the opportunity to share an incredible conversation that I had with my coach, Dr. Barbara Eaton. It’s an interesting way to do an interview for the show because I wasn’t expecting it to turn out the way that it did. It’s perfect because it’s a glimpse into the way that she gets the people that she coaches to think about their mindset. We were talking about a circumstance where I was talking about my relationship with my father and how when I go back to where I’m from, I get distracted. If he comes to where I live, I always want to work. We are choosing to meet somewhere in the middle and go to a city that neither of us knows anyone so that we can spend time together and not be distracted.
She asked politely, “Can I poke at that a little bit?” I said, “Yes.” The exchange that you read is her insight into the monkey mind, consciousness, and her desire to help people move along the mind consciousness continuum and have a better life. I hope you enjoy this episode with Dr. Barbara Eaton. You can find her at DrBarbaraEaton.com. She’s an amazing chiropractor and coach. You’re going to love this episode, reading into what it looks like to learn from her and the wisdom that she has to offer. Enjoy the show.

You just said, “I feel like when I go see my dad. I get distracted.” The question to ask yourself isn’t, “What is my thinking?” The question you ask yourself is, “What is the truth about my thinking?” You’re here and you’re like, “I feel like I get distracted.” Remember that you cannot feel anything you don’t first think. What is the truth about your thinking that is leading to, “I feel like I get distracted?”
I want to see all the other people that live there. I will be missing out on getting to see the people that I don’t get to see very often. It’s like I’m trying to do all the things with the one trip with the time that I’ve taken off. The fear of missing out, that’s it.
What will you be missing out on when you go and spend time with them?
I’ll be missing out on time with my dad.
What do you know about time with your dad?
It’s fleeting and precious.
There’s not much time. If this is what you know and feel, which is more true? This is fear of what other people are going to think of you. There’s nothing you would do with any of them that would fill your heart this well. This is just a monkey. Let me ask you this. Is any intelligence always on? Is there always live streaming when it comes to any intelligence? There’s always live streaming happening above, down, inside or out. Does it always do things in the right proportion?
I think it does.
Take one day at a time, and don’t be afraid to ask for help! Click To TweetIt always does things at the right time. It’s always on. Does it always have the perfect timing? Yeah. I’m not going to suddenly develop a scar here today for a cut that I’m going to get next week. Likewise, if I get cut next now or today, it’s not going to heal next week. It’s going to be right on time all the time. If there’s this live streaming, it’s always on time, in the right proportion and accurate. What possibly interferes with it doing its job?
Is it subluxation disconnection?
Yup, it’s subluxation, the four Ts.
It’s thoughts, traumas, toxins and technology.
Technology changes neurology. There’s still a live stream. It’s just that it interfered with, which keeps the human body from being at its optimum potential. If the human body can’t be at its optimum potential, there’s a lot on offer that isn’t happening. As a chiropractor, we can easily see and easily know about the system. We also know for a practice member that they’re invited to turn their back on the way they used to live, which is over here. The way they used to live over here is overwhelming like I’m drowning in ill health, in lack of energy, and in my fear that something may be seriously wrong with me. We turn our back on that or we show them how and our care plan or instructions give them the opportunity to turn their back on what they used to do, and pursue that which they want by overwhelming their goals with action. We’re still overwhelmed but instead of being under, now we’re over. We’re overwhelming our goals with action. I’ve talked about all in massive action for a long time. Do you know what all massive action is? It’s consistency.
I don’t know if you caught my Facebook live about one day at a time. For those who didn’t catch it, I invite you to do it. The gist of it is that, are the simple pleasures of living missing from your life? If so, I invite you to adopt the one day at a time approach. Choose an area of your life that you’ve been trying to excel in. Maybe it’s writing content for marketing or sales, talking to new practice members, leaning into your children and relationships. What would constitute an average day of action in that category for you? For instance, spending 45 minutes a day writing. Maybe with sales, it is intentionally speaking to put five potential new practice members who can come in the way of referrals. Parenting, spending at least 45 minutes before and after school, focused exclusively on your children. No cell phones or no other distractions allowed, just focused on them.
Take those and project them in the future. If you did nothing but repeat your average action day, five days a week for the next 90 days, how much progress do you think you’d make? Let me figure it out. If you wrote 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week for the next 90 days, that would be 2,025 minutes of content. You can use that content to penetrate your market powerfully. What about speaking with five potential new practice members 5 days a week for 90 days, if only 25% of them. Let me ask you something. You have little kids. If they came home and they’re like, “Mommy, I got 25% on my exam,” would that be okay with you? No, because it’s way below average. I’m not even asking any of you to consider average action. I’m even inviting you to have less than average results, 25%.
If only 25% of those potential new practice members that you talk to every day, five days a week, which ends up being 100 per month, if only 25% of them invested in your case average which in America, the average is $2,000. That’s $50,000 in your bank account this month. Keep this turned up. Over the course of a year, you’re talking to12,000 potential new practice members with just average action every day, and only 25% of them even do anything. It’s $6 million in a year from average action consistency. If we go back to this example, isn’t that all we’re asking our practice members to do in order to turn their back on this and pursue the life that they want to lead? It’s consistent three times a week for the next eight weeks, twice a week for 12 weeks after that, once a week for the rest of your life. It’s just consistency.
The thing that interferes with innate being live stream all the time is the same thing that’s keeping you back from your desired life, knowing. The only thing that interferes with knowing is a monkey. Knowing is an innate intelligence. It’s always on time in the right proportion and accurate. It’s just that we have limitations of matter whereby we believe the survival constraint is now us instead of seeing it as a subluxation pattern. You are not about perfectionist, introvert, extrovert or afraid, etc. You’re none of those things. You are human. If you’re not sure and don’t remember what human is, go and watch some kids. Watch them as newborns, 6 months old, 1-month-old, 1-year-old, 2 or 4.
I had a conversation with a private coaching client who struggles in asking people for help. It wasn’t okay for her to ask for help when she was growing up. She was the oldest of a ton of kids, both of her parents worked and she was responsible for them. When she did, it was met with, “Go back to sleep.” If she got scared tonight, “Just go back to sleep.” She eventually learned, “It doesn’t matter anyway if I go and ask for help, I’m not going to get it.” She developed a subluxation pattern that said, “Don’t ask for help because what is it going to matter anyway.” Even though if you go back to look at her as human when she was one month old and she was hungry, what do you think she did? She asked for help. When her diaper was dirty, what did she do? When she was cold, what did she do?
She asked for help.

She never worries about what her mom or dad or whoever else is thinking. It’s just, “I need that pursuit of what I want and all these other people can help me. I can see they have value. Come on in.” That is human.
When did you know you wanted to help lead chiropractors into the principles of mind thought consciousness?
That question goes back a little bit further than just 2020. When it occurred to me to open my practice back in 1998, I was super excited to do so, but I didn’t know anything about business. I’d never been an associate, an independent contractor or a CA, other than working in a retail, an ice cream joint and a few other jobs like I always taught aerobics. I’d never even had a job except for those kinds of jobs like nothing in big leadership. I didn’t know what I was doing. Throughout my life, when I wanted a result and I didn’t know how to get it, I looked for somebody who did.
For instance, I remember when I wanted to learn how to play the cornet, I told my parents I want to learn how to play the cornet. They’re like, “Let’s enroll you in a band.” I got into the band and I learned how to play the cornet. I wanted to improve as a fastpitch softball player. I asked my coach and she would meet with me before school and after school, anytime I wanted to in the off-season and we practiced, and I got better. When I want to become a chiropractor, I did like all of the rest of you. I enrolled in chiropractic college. They would teach me how to become a chiropractor. They knew.
When it was time to open my practice and I knew I would be a great chiropractor, but I didn’t know how I was going to have people coming into the door, how to set up systems so they would stay, pay and refer. How I would find my ideal lifestyle and take care of my family, I asked for help because that’s what I’d always done. When I got the help, I listened. That habit then led to me opening my own practice in December of 1998 in a town of 5,000 people at Christmas, cash practice, bring it on. I went from 0 to 180 office visits a week in 89 days. Here I am in my twenties killing it. I kept doing that and then my coach asked me, six months later, “Do you want to coach other chiropractors?” I was like, “Sure.” Once again, I didn’t know how to do it. I asked for help to be a coach. I continue to be in practice and coach.
Along the journey, I ended up getting divorced and being a single mom and met my now husband in 2009. We had both gone through some pretty stuff in life. We decided, “Let’s hammer down and make up some ground for the stuff we’ve been through in our past.” That was all fine. In 2013, I decided to have a breast reduction. After I had that surgery, I did something I had never done before in my life. Instead of asking for help, I decided I would do recovery Barb’s way. It didn’t work well at all. Innate showed me I’m the boss and you’re going to be flat on your back. I was forced to take it easy or it would have been a bad situation.
It’s interesting how at that time, I started telling myself different stories. Life had been hard as a single mom. Even when I was married to my ex, I still bore the responsibility of our family financially in a lot of ways. When I married my husband now, he could handle those things. I was like, “Being a kept woman thing is not so bad.” I stopped inviting into my life being in over my head with opportunities, making a difference and an impact. Before long, just like a subluxation, interference then develops new habits, I had this where I was doing all kinds of stuff, but never making a difference or an impact. I wasn’t sitting around the house eating bonbons.
When my husband would come home and be like, “What were you doing all day?” I’d be like, “What do you mean? I was busy.” I want to tell you, I was doing stuff that I don’t have any idea. I’ll tell you what I was doing. I was searching the internet for new things to learn but never put them to use. It’s just getting smarter in my head but never using that to make a difference and an impact. It’s not in over my head, which is our natural state. Watch a child, they’re always in over their head. That’s what human is. This is what made me look at things differently. I opened my practice in 1998. My first full year in practice in 1999, I did $256,000. I earned that.
At the end of 2016, I humbly got to report on my taxes, $46,000. Many years into the business, now I’m at $46,000. You don’t have to be an accountant to know we got a problem. Something has drastically changed. My friend suggested that I read Grant Cardone’s 10X. His message spoke to me. The reason it spoke to me is it called me forth again to be in over my head like purposefully put into my life opportunities that are uncomfortable, so I have to step up and grow. It’s no different than a child who’s learning how to walk.
They don’t know how. They stand up. They don’t know what they’re doing and they fall down, but they never lose the momentum of continuing to try. That’s what’s human. That’s what I had done my whole life until this take it an easy thing. I got in over my head and decided to develop The 56 Day Chiropractic Bootcamp to Double Your Business. I’d never done a membership program before like that. I had been a coach for a long time, but I’d never had a big membership program like that. I didn’t know what to do. What do you think my first inclination was?
Ask for help.
Wisdom often comes disguised as common sense. Click To TweetI did and I got help setting it up. In 2021, the bootcamp has nearly 500 paying members and with a reach across the world. Up until 2020, I had done more transactional coaching. It is you tell me what the problem is that you have. We then work together and I give you strategies to solve that problem. It’s worked well. I have an amazing career from that and lots of testimonials to prove that it works. However, in 2020, when this pandemic hit, there was a restlessness in me that I couldn’t understand or explain. I needed a new way of looking at things. The thing knowing kept saying to me was no more secrets about my emotions and my feelings in my relationships, or who I am as a coach and as a leader in this world. It’s just no more secrets, but I didn’t know what that meant. I just knew that innate kept saying that to me.
I had met a woman named Demi McConkie at the Wealth Factory, Soul Purpose. There was this air about her of just beauty and ease. I wanted some of that. I joined a mastermind that she had and started learning about mind thought and consciousness. It was quite similar in 2017 when I read Grant Cardone’s 10X that it spoke to me. This spoke to me but in a different way. Here’s the deal, wisdom which is our knowing, which is innate intelligence, it whispers. It doesn’t scream. It’s a gentleman. I have what wisdom is. If it’s okay, it would be beneficial for your audience to have me help them distinguish between the idea of how do I know how to make decisions. A lot of people seem to have a struggle with decision-making. If it’s okay, I want to give you guidelines to ascertain whether you’re being led by innate or monkey.
I know everybody who’s reading would be excited to know it.
Please understand that I’m interchanging wisdom in this with knowing. I’m also interchanging wisdom with innate intelligence. Wisdom is ever-present and always kind. Remember, we already talked about how wisdom is livestream 100% of the time in the human body. It is in mind as well. Wisdom sometimes whispers, but it’s always clear. Here’s why, the truth is simple. Wisdom has an obviousness to it when you hear it even if it’s completely invisible until you do. How many times have you had this inkling and you didn’t quite understand it, but you just knew it was right? As you continued moving in the direction of your greatest dreams and goals, it became obvious. Did that ever happen to you?
Yeah.
Wisdom often comes disguised as common sense but in reality, it’s extremely uncommon in usage. The example I have for this is how many times I hear people say, “It’s human nature to be afraid.” I’m like, “No, it’s not.” It’s not human nature to go up on stage because all that’s happening when you go on stage is typically, you’re walking up steps. You don’t have any fear of walking up steps. We’re holding a microphone in our hand. Is it scary to hold something in your hand? It’s not scary. You’re speaking. We do that every day. The only thing that’s scary in there is our thinking because we live in our thinking, not our reality. Let me prove my point. You are married. Do you and your husband see everything eye to eye?
Probably not. It’s quite the opposite.
Do you and your staff see everything eye to eye?
No way.
Do you and your practice members see everything eye to eye?
No.
Have you ever changed your mind?

Yes.
If we look at you and your husband in a situation where you don’t see eye to eye, you’re both in that reality, but you’re both living in your thinking with your practice members. You’re both right there in that reality, but you’re both living your thinking, not your reality. It’s the same with your children and with anything. We live our thinking. We don’t live our reality. Therefore, our thinking creates our reality and we live in our thinking.
I used to say all the time, your perception is your reality. That’s exactly what you’re saying.
We see what we think. This is truly something I do think, that everyone on the planet wants to know me. I believe that. What do I see all the time? They want to know me. There are other people who, because of experiences, have adopted the thought that no one cares about them. They see that person doesn’t care because they’re thinking created their reality. Wisdom always feels truthful even if it doesn’t always feel good. Living outside your comfort zone doesn’t always feel good. Doing new things sometimes cannot feel very good but remember, you can’t feel anything if we don’t first think.
If we look at what is the truth about our thinking, we’ll realize we’ve made it some story that is in opposition to what we know. You know what is necessary for you to grow, to venture out and so does everyone else. Why is decision-making most difficult most of the time? It’s because we get caught up in our whirlwind of thinking that our future wellbeing is dependent on making the right decision now. It’s like, “I have to make the right decision now,” and that in some way, you should already know how things will turn out. Stop and consider that for a minute. How are you supposed to know how things will turn out? Do you have a crystal ball? You have never known how things will turn out and yet you’ve made millions of choices up until now.
Not one time have you made a decision where you knew things were going to turn out? “No, Barb, because I had done it before.” That was the past. All you have today about your past is your thinking. You didn’t know how it would turn out. The reality is that you only know how things will turn out for where you are up until now. It could instantly change. The decisions you made up until this point got you exactly here. It’s here where you want to be. If you desire to have a bigger practice or better relationships, more money or whatever, then it is here where you want to be. For most people, no. If you didn’t know something better was available to you, you would not even consider making a new decision.
Knowing wisdom says, “Liz, I have so much greater for you on offer. If you’ll simply turn your back on that, which you don’t want and pursue this. I have so much more for you on offer.” If you’re innate didn’t know that was possible, it would not nod at you. We already agreed innate is always on time, always live streaming, always accurate and in the right amount. It’s just we stopped listening or trusting to the nudges. Knowing innate intelligence is always on time and accurate. It prompts and reveals at the perfect time. Knowing wants to reveal to you a bigger reality than what you’re currently considering because thinking creates your reality. If it wasn’t the right time to expand, knowing will not nudge you. Your understanding of and applying mind thought and consciousness holds the key and the roadmap for living your greatest potential, full of joy, stresslessness, abundance, wealth and harmony because that’s what wisdom has in offer for you. It’s not just Liz and not just me, it’s you.
The other cool thing to know is that we’re all given the same operating system. It’s innate intelligence and that same operating system is present in every single human being who comes into your practice. We look for interferences to the flow, the live streaming of innate intelligence. That’s what I do as a coach. I help you look, see and tell the dirty, rotten, stinking truth, and take responsibility for the interruption of flow. Your operating system knowing has so much more on offer for you than you’re aware of and that’s the job of expanding your consciousness. I have this new fascination with Elon Musk because he kicked Jeff Bezos off the number one spot. He’s the same operating system that you and I have. The same one.
It’s like this phone. I don’t know how to use all the functions of this phone, but every time I learn something new, I’m like, “That would make my life easier if I had known that five years ago.” That’s our operating system. It has so much on offer for us. The only thing that keeps us not tapping into it is monkey. Elon Musk has the same operating system. All of you have the same operating system as I do, the same as Liz. We’re given the same inventory every day. The playing field is exactly the same with 1,440 minutes. What are you going to do with this operating system that some are using to radically change the world, and as a result of making that big of an impact and influence are billionaires while you sit and hope for another $100?
When I hear you say that, the thing that pops up for me is scripture because everything that you’re saying is so rooted in truth and God’s word is truth. Proverbs 4:7 says that wisdom is the principal thing. That’s exactly what you’re talking about.
All massive action really is, is consistency. Click To TweetSolomon gets wisdom.
God wants us to have it, protect it, seek it and listen to it. It says in four different versions of the Bible that if we do that, we will have life. Me as a chiropractor, you as a coach and a chiropractor, you are removing that subluxation to allow us to have that wisdom be present, and for us to have the ability to know it and connected to it.
Also, to tap into the wisdom that’s already there. The scripture also says, “Renew your mind.” The National Institutes of Health did research. Their research revealed that we have between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts per day as human beings, and that 80% of them are negative and 98% are recycled from yesterday. Is it any wonder that we have groundhog day in most people’s lives? What are you putting in here? How are you tapping into your knowing? If you’re just filling it with the news or with individuals who are negative. How does the mind come out? Thoughts or minds are energy. If what you’re putting in there is destructive in nature, then your thoughts are going to be 80% negative. When we indulge in thought, it gives our thinking. Thinking drives our emotions and our emotions lead to behaviors, either monsters or Mansons. I’m not making this stuff up. It’s the way that it is.
It’s funny that you say, “Everybody wants to know me.” The first time I got to talk to you, I’m sure you don’t even remember. It was at the Wave in Life West. I was there as a delegate for Cal Chiro because I serve on the board. I was sitting at the president’s table. All the people that I was moving up into the position and leadership in California. You walked in and I’d never even heard of you up until 2018 or 2017. I was like, “This lady is so awesome. I want to go give her a hug.” I walked up and I said, “Barb, I’m Liz. I want to hug you. I saw you and I want to give you a hug.” You then went to your seat and I went to my seat and that was it.
Fast forward three years, I was on the committee for the Blair’s Society. We plan our conference every year. I was like, “We need to have Barbara Eaton come and talk, do us a keynote and teach our CAs because we need to have what she is offering.” We got you on the docket. We had our little conference in Florida in 2020. You came and I brought my whole staff. It was transformative. I’ve been working with you professionally since October 2020. I’ve been excited about you since 2017. Since that little bit of time in my life, it’s already made such a transformative difference in the way that I think, act or treat people. I’m excited because it’s a simple principle that is the truth. As you said, the truth is simple.
Thank you so much. I had missed that you are responsible to Blair. I appreciate that. I had such a fun time. For those of you who are reading, come to Blair in October 2021 in Dallas, I got asked to do this CA portion again. This isn’t bragging because it’s true. Your CAs are spending a day with me in a room. We’ll change them from the inside out. This 2021, I’m going to take it even to the next level. Please come to Blair. I love Blair too because it’s about the artistry. There’s no chiropractor who can deny the importance of the upper cervical spine and yet there are very few who have an art form in locating, analyzing and adjusting upper cervical subluxations. When you come to Blair, they’re all about the upper cervical spine, which can radically change your practice members’ clinical outcomes. While you’re learning that, I’ve got your CAs all day in a room and it will be extremely powerful.
From a personal testimony perspective, my four staff were there all day with her. If you don’t sign up with her, we’re going to figure out how to pay for it. It’s a done deal. We’re going to be bootcamp members. It’s like so much good has come from a team comradery perspective. We have the system to explain things. We’re implementing all this stuff. It was already great. It’s magnificent now. I concur. You have to bring your team to Dallas in October 2021 for the Blair Conference. I have one more question for you, Dr. Barb.
I want to throw some praise your way though. This is a difference between transactional and transformational coaching. Oftentimes in transactional coaching, we’ll see transactions and our practice change. Commonly, especially to get the uncommon results that you have gotten, if you were in transactional coaching, there’s a lot that you would have sacrificed. Instead, I see Liz stepping in more to her own greatness, even being excited about and being able to gracefully decline, what we would all think was an amazing offer. Monkey kept pushing her to look again. When she was able to settle in to her knowing, the answer became very clear like that’s a no for me. There wasn’t this drama about it. There wasn’t any of this stuff. It was like, “That’s a great offer.” It’s a no because I’m going here, my husband and my children and what we have going. I want to acknowledge you for not just learning, but executing and stepping more into your knowing.
Thank you. It’s cool to have you recognize that. It’s so true. Thank you for honoring that. My final question for you, what does it look like for you to live your life in alignment?
Just watch me on Facebook. It’s ease and fun. I described it this way on a number of private coaching calls. I love playing softball and maybe that’s not familiar to everybody so let’s use football. We can have a football field. Think of a football field as your life. When you’re on the field, it’s up to you to make plays or to win. This is your field, so it’s your bat, your ball, your game. You get to decide the rules of engagement, the boundaries that you have in place, or how much money you want to earn for the game that you’re playing. There are these seats around your field called fans. If a fan is sitting right here and boos, does that change your game? No. If a fan is there and cheers, does that change your game? No, because it’s your game and they can do whatever they want. They’re the fan. They’re not making the plays. You’re making the plays.
In the same regard, the naysayer, the person who you think is your enemy or whoever. They’re like, “I’m not going to do a Facebook live with somebody because people are going to think I’m a ding dong.” Here’s the cool thing, it’s not your game. This is somebody else’s game. This field is their thinking. It’s not your game or thinking. You’re just a fan observing. Someone gives me a dirty look. That’s their dirty look from their thinking. I’m just a fan observing like, “That’s interesting.” I’m not on the field playing because that field called somebody else’s thinking is theirs, so we can observe other people. I live by this principle. It’s in alignment because of no think and feel. I know that mind energy is thought. When I indulge in thought, I get my thinking. My thinking drives my emotions and my emotions produce Mansons or monsters. I know the life that I want to have. I adopt the thinking that’s in alignment with that life. It’s that simple because the truth is simple.

Thanks so much for being on.
Thank you, Liz. This was a lot of fun and I’m super proud of you.
Thank you.
You’re welcome.
