Upper Cervical Chiropractic Can Help Lower High Blood Pressure

What is High Blood Pressure?
High blood pressure is a common condition where the force that pumping blood puts on artery walls gets too high. And if it gets high enough, then it can cause health issues, such as heart disease.
Two measurements are taken to monitor blood pressure. The systolic pressure, known as the “top” number, is measured when the blood is pushed out of your heart. And, the diastolic pressure, known as the “bottom” number, is measured between heartbeats.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, could be a stand-alone condition, or it may be a symptom of a more serious health problem such as heart disease or diabetes.
Symptoms of High Blood Pressure
Hypertension is associated with several symptoms, most commonly headaches, fatigue, dizziness, nosebleeds, vision problems, or shortness of breath. In more serious cases these symptoms may also be accompanied by chest pain, blood in the urine, or irregular heartbeat.
High blood pressure is often treated with medication, though prescription medication may cause various unpleasant side effects. And, unfortunately, medication does not address the underlying cause.
How the Upper Cervical Spine Effects High Blood Pressure
The upper cervical spine consists of the vertebrae that go from the base of the skull down to the upper back. This part of the spine not only helps to support and stabilize the brain stem but also protects the pathway of nerves through which the brain sends signals that regulate all of the body’s functions.
These vertebrae are in a vulnerable place, where injuries, abrupt movements, or poor posture can cause them to become misaligned. When misaligned, there may be inflammation and compressed nerves that impede the flow of signals from the brain. Some of these signals regulate our blood pressure and regulate the contraction and expansion of arteriole walls which may result in increased blood pressure.
How Our Blood Pressure Treatment Works
Dr. Elizabeth Hoefer of Well Connected Chiropractic specializes in the Blair Chiropractic Technique. This is a gentle, precise, and effective high blood pressure treatment that helps bring the upper cervical spine back to proper alignment with minimal force, and without cracking, popping, or twisting associated with traditional chiropractic methods.
Our doctors will first conduct an examination with advanced diagnostic tools such as 3D imaging technology in order to pinpoint any misalignments. By precisely locating the misalignments, there is no guesswork involved and our doctors can accurately make adjustments through low-force methods of manipulation.
Once the upper cervical spine is returned to its naturally aligned state, the flow of brain signals can resume unimpeded and the body’s natural healing mechanisms are rebooted.
