Immune System Deficiency: Upper Cervical Chiropractic Can Help

Immune System Deficiency

What is Immune System Deficiency?

The immune system is the body’s natural defense against illness and disease. Those with an immune system deficiency may find they are more susceptible to getting sick. With an impaired immune system, illnesses and injuries may be more severe, and it may take longer for sufferers to recover.

There are many potential causes of immune system deficiency. It may be due to genetics, unhealthy choices, or may have developed due to other conditions such as diabetes and lupus.

Signs and Symptoms of Immune System Deficiency

Symptoms vary among people with immune system deficiencies. Your health care provider’s tests and check-ups may detect other underlying conditions.

People with an immune system deficiency typically find that they frequently catch colds, the flu, or suffer from gut ailments such as bloating or diarrhea. They will also find that they have difficulty recovering from illnesses and that viruses and bacterial infections tend to linger. This may lead to lethargy and difficulty in functioning.

An immune system deficiency will also affect wounds and injuries, often causing more complications and a slower healing process.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic and the Immune System

Modern research has discovered that the immune system’s functions are closely tied to the central nervous system.  The central nervous system is comprised of the brain and spinal cord, and it regulates every system of the body—including the immune system.

The upper cervical spine is a particularly vulnerable place. It runs from the base of the skull, down the neck, and into the upper back, and it protects a large cluster of nerves that deliver messages throughout the central nervous system. When these vertebrae are misaligned, it can disrupt the impulses from the brain and wreak havoc on the body’s major systems.

How Our Upper Cervical Treatment Works for Immune System Deficiency

Upper cervical treatment can bring the spine back into proper alignment. When the spine is correctly aligned, it allows the nerves to function properly. And, this helps the body’s natural healing mechanisms and improves the immune system overall.

Dr. Elizabeth Hoefer of Well Connected Chiropractic is a specialist in the Blair Chiropractic Technique, which focuses on restoring alignment to the upper cervical spine using safe, effective, drug-free methods.

During the diagnostic stage of your appointment, our doctors will use state-of-the-art 3D x-rays in order to pinpoint any misalignments of the upper cervical spine. Once any misalignments of the vertebrae are detected, the doctor will correct them through a series of gentle and precise manipulations. Realignment frees the body so that the natural healing processes can finally begin.

If an immune system deficiency is getting in the way of your day-to-day life, get in touch with Dr. Hoefer for an appointment. Dr. Hoefer services patients in Orange County, including Anaheim, Rancho Santa Margarita, Dana Point, San Clemente, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, and Santa Ana.
